In recent years,
thanks to manufacturers commitment to the R&D of abamectin mixed
formulations, the registration and amount of abamectin mixed formulations has
been on the rise in China.
According to data from the Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry
of Agriculture (ICAMA), in 2015, a total of 123
abamectin formulations were registered in China (not including the renewal of
pre-existing registrations). Of these, the amount of abamectin mixed
formulations registered was 79, accounting for 64.23% of total national
registrations. The number of abamectin mixed formulations registered far
exceeded that of abamectin single formulations.
For three consecutive years, the number of registrations of abamectin mixed
formulations has been larger than that of abamectin single formulations. This
signifies that abamectin mixed formulations have been recognized and favored by
the market. Thanks to manufacturers commitment to the R&D of abamectin
mixed formulations, the registration and amount of abamectin mixed formulations
has been on the rise in China.
By the end of 2015, 637 registrants had obtained registration certificates for
1,601 abamectin formulations, 744 for abamectin single formulations and 857 for
abamectin mixed formulations.
Of the 857 abamectin mixed formulations, the number of registrations for mixed
formulation groups with two active ingredients was 55. In specifics, the top 5
mixed formulations with two active ingredients by registration frequency (>
50 times) were abamectin·beta-cypermethrin, abamectin·pyridaben,
abamectin·triazophos, abamectin·chlorpyrifos and abamectin·petroleum oil, with
respective registration frequency of 151, 81, 62, 57 and 51. The registration
number of mixed formulation groups of two active ingredients with registration
frequency >= 10 times was as much as 20.
Over the past three years:
In 2015, in total 79 abamectin mixed formulations were registered. The top 3
were abamectin·spirodiclofen, abamectin·chlorpyrifos and abamectin·indoxacarb.
In 2014, in total 93 abamectin mixed formulations were registered. The top 3
were abamectin·chlorpyrifos, abamectin·pyridaben and abamectin·pymetrozine.
In 2013, in total 113 abamectin mixed formulations were registered. The top 3
were abamectin·chlorpyrifos, abamectin·pyridaben and abamectin·triazophos.
Abamectin is an optimal pesticide that is widely used to prevent and control the vast majority of pests
which affect crops. To date, this pesticide has been generally recognized and
accepted by farmers. China has become the largest manufacturer and exporter of
abamectin in the world. As the use of abamectin is increasing, so too is the
resistance of pests to abamectin, which is growing each year.
Abamectin resistance has been one of the constraints to its development.
Professor Pan Zhende, revealed that abamectin was originally regarded as the first
option in the prevention and control of diamondback moths. However, now
abamectin is restricted for use in some regions due to pest resistance. Since
manufacturers are committed to the R&D of abamectin mixed formulations, the
registration and amount of abamectin mixed formulations is on the rise in
China, which should prolong the life cycle of abamectin.
